Do Not Let the Summer Affect Your Eyes

The reports of air quality are often included throughout the world in the weather forecast, particularly in the summer months, when levels of ozone can increase. While some people may be more disturbed than others, the eye is susceptible to air pollution and air quality can definitely affect how comfortable your eyes are. And it can affect your quality of life depending on the amount of pollution in the air — particularly if irritations occur when you wear contact lenses.

There is no quick solution, of course, to restore the air outside for the day or night, but some basic techniques can provide relief to your vision, when air quality deteriorates day by day.  Otherwise, going for affordable eye care can be a good solution.

Speaking of smog and air pollution, scientists often refer to extreme ozone, which seems to be a contradiction. In other words, ozone is good thing, right? Ozone does not make us conscious of the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun.

Ozone is a gas which is odorless and found both in the upper atmosphere of the earth and in the ground. Ozone is not naturally formed in the lower atmosphere of the earth, near ground level. It occurs instead when pollutants issued from cars, power generating plants, industrial boiling plants, refineries, chemical plants and other sources are chemical reactions in the presence of sunlight.

How Can Your Eyes Be Protected?

We often hear how pollution affects respiration, but not only are your lungs the effects of poor air quality. The skin is sensitive to the effect of air pollution, too. The effects of air pollution may vary from mild to no symptoms to persistent discomfort to skin-irritation. In fact, if you wear a contact lens, air pollution can have adverse effect on your eyes.  

Speak to your eye doctor if your eyes are uncomfortable. A combination of recovery drops and a different contact lens in some cases can help. For example, a day lens may be recommended by your doctor. You can be assured that no deposits are left on each day by placing a new pair of lenses on each day.
